Marco Kacic Driver Profile

Twenty year old Canadian racing driver Marco Kacic, from Kelowna, BC, Canada, is a professional racing driver currently competing in the 2023 German Prototype Cup.

Marco started driving a go Kart at the age of five. At age seven, he started competing at the West Coast Kart Club in Chilliwack, BC, Canada. Over the next nine years, Marco won numerous races and championships in Canada and the USA. He became recognized as one of the top North American Junior kart drivers. By age 12, Marco had caught the eye of Italian CRG Kart owner, Giancarlo Tinini, and he signed Marco to represent CRG as a Junior Factory Driver.

Marco had just turned 15 when he signed with a Formula 1600 team, Exclusive Autosport, to compete in the Canadian Formula 1600 Championship. Marco shocked the competition in his first Formula 1600 race by not only being the youngest driver in the field but by also qualifying first by over seven-tenths of a second at the first race of the season at the Mosport circuit in Ontario. Marco went on to have several highlights in his first year of formula car competition.

Marco’s Formula 1600 performances during the 2018 season attracted the attention of California-based Formula 4 team Doran Motorsports Group (DMG). The team invited Marco to Button Willow, California for a testing day in late December 2018. DMG was extremely impressed with how quickly he learned both the track and the F4 car. Former Indy car driver, Alex Barron, was Marco’s driving coach for the test day and he commented several times on how impressive Marco’s car control was. After such a fantastic test, DMG offered Marco a partial sponsorship to come and drive for them in the 2019 Formula Pro USA F4 Championship.

On February 2nd 2019, Marco made his Formula 4 debut with Doran Motorsports Group in the F4 Formula Pro USA Winter Series. Not only did Marco win his debut F4 race, he completely dominated it, winning by over 27 seconds.

That year, Marco won 7 out of 10 races in the 2019 Formula Pro USA series and claimed the overall championship for 2019.

When Covid 19 hit, it definitely affected the Motorsports world and many championships were cancelled. Marco stayed focused on his long-term goals and made sure to keep his skills up by practising in a shifter kart and continuing to stay in top physical condition.

In early 2021, Marco was one of six drivers invited to a driver shoot-out to compete for a funded ride with an AMG GT4 team. He had never driven a sports car before so he had to adapt quickly. Marco had just gotten his learner’s permit a few weeks before the shoot-out so he was very new to the feel of any type of closed-wheel car.

At the end of the shootout, Marco was awarded the winning ride. Shortly after Marco won the GT4 seat, Doran Motorsports Group offered Marco the opportunity to race an F3 car in the F3 Formula Pro USA series. The two schedules did not conflict so Marco was able to race in both series in 2021.

Marco had several wins and podium finishes in F3 that year. The DMG team and Marco’s Management team put together a program for Marco to move up to the F3 Americas series in 2022. Due to unforeseen circumstances, the team and Marco were only able to compete in the first few rounds.

In 2023, Marco was given the opportunity to go overseas and race in the German Prototype Cup with the German-based MRS team, and in 2024 Marco placed 2nd in IMSA Daytona LMP3 Race.  Currently, Marco is also a GM of Scuderia Estoras Racing Team.
